Retirement? Not Quite. I Call This My Refirement.

Woman walking peacefully along a sunlit path, reflecting on purpose in midlife.

Retirement? Not quite.

I call this my "refirement."

This isn’t about slowing down.

It’s about showing up.

Not for comfort —but for calling.

While some use these years to exhale and withdraw, I’ve chosen to lean in and pour out.

Because the fire within me didn’t dim at 50—it deepened.

And now, in my 60s, I’ve never felt more aligned, more surrendered, and more alive.

When I was in Rwanda, I walked red clay roads.

I greeted women sewing dignity into every stitch of a reusable pad.

I laughed with children who held books for the first time.

I sat with leaders, dreamers, and believers in dusty rooms filled with divine potential.

And every single day, I was reminded:

This is holy work.

🔥 Purpose Over Pensions

The world says, “You’ve done enough. Now rest.” But what if the second half of life isn’t for retreating… but for revealing?

What if the wisdom you’ve gained is meant to work—not sit on a shelf?

I’m not here to build a résumé.

I’m here to build a legacy.

And legacy doesn’t ask for ease—it asks for obedience.

If God wakes you up in the morning, He’s not finished with you.

Your story still has chapters to write.

Your voice still has something to say.

Your light still has places to shine.

This season isn’t my wind-down.

It’s my wind-up.

The second half of life isn’t about retiring from purpose. It’s about refining it—and running toward it even harder.

🛠️ Where Vision and Vocation Collide

At this stage of life, I’m not just doing good work.

I’m doing God work.

Through Prosper on Purpose, I help women of faith in midlife reignite their calling, embrace their leadership, and steward their stories—on pages, platforms, and in purposeful programs.

Hope Springs Africa is one springboard from that purpose.

It’s the place where legacy leaves footprints.

But it doesn’t stop there.

I’m also:

  • Writing books that equip

  • Creating resources that challenge

  • Mentoring women who want to multiply their impact, not minimize their age

Because purpose isn’t limited to one lane. And neither are we.

Yes, we’ve delivered water filters.

Yes, we’ve launched hygiene initiatives and leadership hubs.

But what we’re really building is:

✨ Confidence in calling

✨ Courage to go

✨ Clarity to keep moving when others pause

That’s the kind of prosperity I want to leave behind.

🧭 Lessons from the Frontlines

There’s a rhythm to this season I never would’ve known if I had stopped too soon.

I’ve learned:

  • Purpose isn’t always polished. Sometimes it looks like sitting in the dirt with a child or being wrecked by someone’s story.

  • Impact doesn’t require applause. The greatest influence happens in quiet, sacred spaces.

  • Fulfillment doesn’t follow trends. It follows truth.

If I had listened to the voices that said, ‘Take it easy,” I would’ve missed the miracles. Instead, I leaned in.

And I’ve seen firsthand:

Passion doesn’t retire.

🌿 For the Woman Wondering, “Is It Too Late?”

Let me be clear:

  • It’s never too late to be used by God.

  • It’s never too late to answer the call.

  • It’s never too late to dream again, lead again, or begin again.

So if you’re standing at the edge of your next—wondering if the world still needs what you carry—hear me:

Yes. It does.

This isn’t retirement.

It’s "refirement."

And we’re just getting started.

📣 Your Call to Action

If this message stirred something in you—don’t silence it. Move with it.

  • Take the next courageous step toward your calling.

  • Reignite the dreams you thought had expired.

  • Connect with a community that refuses to let purpose retire.

If you're ready to rediscover your fire, reclaim your voice, and relaunch your vision—join me on this journey.

Because the second half isn't a slowdown.

It’s a sacred rise.

What does retirement look like for you? I’d love to hear your thoughts in the comments.💫 And if you'd like me to support you in your next chapter, I'd be delighted to do so.
